Ponzu is the former Yuzu (Custom) AppImage loader and tool. If the user has personal backups of the last versions of the now dead emulators in AppImage format they can temporarily be used with RetroDECK as-is.

No, this is more of a tool to point towards those version from RetroDECK.
The defaults are still Ryujinx and Citra-core in RetroArch from 0.8.0b, but you can choose to run those systems against the AppImages instead from the ES-DE interface.
